ADVERTISEMENT FOR A/E REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

Pursuant to Alabama Act No. 2001-056, Bishop State Community College seeks proposals from qualified professionals licensed in the State of Alabama to provide architectural and/or engineering services under an open-end agreement for various projects for Bishop State Community College including the following campuses: Main, Baker-Gaines Central, Southwest and Carver Campuses.  

Qualifications:  The Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms shall hold a professional license in the State of Alabama. Applicants will be selected on the basis of professional qualifications and successful experience with similar full-service engagements. Applicant firms must clearly demonstrate a considerable body of successful experience with similar or closely-related facility types. Skill and experience in analyzing requirements related unique and special components and documenting facility requirements. Applicants must demonstrate successful experience in delivery fully integrated facilities in a functional, economical and effective manner. Applicants must provide documented success in construction cost management, thorough, accurate and timely services and document production.

Applicant must provide documentation of experience in federally funded projects and the reporting thereof.

All applicable State of Alabama Building Commission procedures, as well as any other applicable requirements from funding sources, shall be utilized on this project. Act 2001-955 requires a disclosure statement to be completed and filed with all proposals, bids, contracts, or grant proposals submitted to the State of Alabama in excess of $5000.  

Alabama Immigration Law Compliance Contract:  Contractor agrees that it will fully comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, as amended by the Immigration Act of 1990, and the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act.

Project General Description: Projects varying in size and complexity and duration which Bishop State will be executing for the next two years. Projects cost not to exceed  $250,000.00

Proposals must be received no later than close of business, February 17, 2012.


Short listed firms will be interviewed during the week of February 24, 2012. Selection of the winning firm will be made by February 29, 2012.


This request for proposals is not an offer to contract but seeks the submission of proposals from qualified, professional respondents that may form the basis for the negotiation of a contract or agreement. At least three A/E firms will be selected for this open-end service from those submitting proposals for further and more detailed evaluation and review by a committee of representatives from the College. Bishop State Community College reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to solicit additional proposals if that is determined to be in the best interests of the State of Alabama
