ADVERTISEMENT FOR A/E REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

Pursuant to the Alabama Act No. 2001-956, the Alabama Supercomputer Authority seeks an Architectural and/or Engineering firm to provide professional services that include design, project manual, construction contract procurement, and construction administration for remodeling of the entrance foyer and lobby of the Alabama Supercomputer Center. 

Description:  The majority of the work will include redesign, remodeling and renovation of the entrance foyer, lobby and restrooms on the first floor of the George C. Wallace Alabama Supercomputer Center at 686 Discovery Drive in Huntsville, Alabama.  There will also be minor renovations to the main conference room and the hallways.  The project budget is $250,000.00. 

Qualifications:  The Alabama Supercomputer Authority will select the most qualified design professional as outlined in the Manual of Procedures, 2001 Edition, prepared by the Alabama Building Commission.  Applicants will be selected on the basis of professional qualifications and successful experience with similar architectural and/or engineering service engagements.  Applicants seeking to provide services for the project must demonstrate prior experience with design for supercomputing facilities.  Only those firms and/or teams with experience designing these types of systems will be considered.  Applicants must be professional engineers registered with the Alabama State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. 

Recognizing the composition of Alabama’s citizenship, the Alabama Supercomputer Authority encourages proposasl from design professionals that represent Alabama firms with diversity in their staffing, proposed project team and associated design professionals and consultants. 

All applicable State of Alabama Building Commission documents and procedures shall be utilized on this project.

Act 2001-955 requires a disclosure statement to be completed and filed with all proposals, bids, contracts, or grant proposals submitted to the State of Alabama in excess of $5,000.   The form is also available online here.

Act 2011-535 (Alabama Immigration Law) imposes conditions on the award of State contracts.  Those requirements are effective 1 January 2012 for contracts receiving State funds.  Architects and Engineers should review and adhere to these guidelines as appropriate to their project type.  For additional information on this subject please refer to the Alabama Building Commission bulletins
