Pursuant to Alabama Act No. 2001-056, John C. Calhoun Community College request proposals for architectural and engineering (A/E) services to be provided for roofing and HVAC renovation of an existing building on the Decatur campus.  The facility is the Business Center and has 18,372 square feet. 

The request for proposals is not an offer to contract but to seek the submission of proposals from qualified, professional respondents that may form the basis for the negotiation of a contract or agreement.  At least three A/E firms will be selected from those submitting proposals for further and more detailed evaluation and review by a committee of representatives from the College.

Qualifications:  The A/E firm shall be licensed in the State of Alabama and demonstrate experience in Post Secondary Education Facility Design and Construction Management.  All applicable State of Alabama Building Commission bid documents and bidding procedures, as well as any other applicable requirements, shall be utilized on this project. 

Proposed Scope of Work:  The proposed scope of work will include removal/demolition of existing roof and roof top HVAC package units, installation of a temporary roof, installation of a metal roof (pitched) to match ACECT and MSA Buildings, re-engineering and replacement of complete HVAC system using VAV Controls, New lights and electrical system and upgrade of transformers if necessary, new paint, replace ceiling grid and tiles, repair interior/exterior walls affected by re-model.  

The A/E firm is expected to Design, Oversee Bid process of the Project, Construction Management Supervision on behalf of the College. 

The budget for the project is approximately $1,650,000.00 including A/E services.

·         Information on similar relevant projects, including the project description, project budget, scope of work, owner’s name and contact information.

·         Complete GSA Standard Form 330

·         ACT 2001-055 Disclosure Statement

·         Letter of Interest

·         Copy of License

·         Copy of Liability Insurance

·         Proposed team assigned to the project

·         Resumes of Project Team

·         Proposals must be received by February 15, 2012.
